Mysterious Beanie Shooting

Police are skeptical about Beanie Sigel\u2019s account of his shooting, according to the Philadelphia Daily News, which took place last Thursday in his hometown.

Although Sigel was treated for a gunshot wound at a local hospital, investigators say that neighborhood residents deny hearing gunshots, and cops were unable to find any shell casings on the street where the rapper was shot.

\u201cI would have heard the shots even from down here,\u201d said 61-year-old Christine Thomas, a block captain on McClellan Street where the shooting reportedly took place.

Sigel, born Dwight Grant, told authorities that four assailants jumped out of two cars and robbed him of $75,000 worth of jewelry, including a platinum chain and a watch crafted by Joseph \u201cJacob The Jeweler\u201d Arabo, as well as $3,000 in cash.

One of the attackers let off four shots, and one bullet hit Sigel\u2019s left shoulder. He then drove himself to a nearby emergency room at the University of Pennsylvania\u2019s hospital. Ironically, the incident occurred near 22nd and McClellan streets \u2013 a block from Sigel Street which inspired the Philly rapper\u2019s stage name.

The 32-year-old artist was later released from the hospital in a wheelchair, and was whisked away in a chauffeur-driven black Mercedes. Before taking off, he rolled down his window and told reporters: \u201cI\u2019m alive. I got shot. I am cool.\u201d
