Update On Lupes Album

Often referred to as the "Hip Hop wiz kid," Chicago lyricist Lupe Fiasco has enjoyed much critical praise and exposure, but his effort to release a debut album continues to be hampered.

According to online reports Atlantic Records has pushed 'Lupe Fiasco's Food & Liquor' back from it's June 27 release date because a version of the LP was leaked via Internet in April. A label rep reportedly confirmed that Lupe has begun recording songs for a revamped 'Food & Liquor.'

"My project wasn't completed, there's all a lot of other things I had orchestrated and arranged for the album," said Lupe. "The leak kind of takes away from the experience I had planned for myself and for the experience I had planned for my fans."

The wordy emcee, who says he's a bigger fan of skate culture and jazz than Hip Hop, said in an April interview with NBS that the leak only exposed six or seven actual album cuts but hinted that further street bootlegging may force him to record additional material. Songs featuring the likes of Executive Producer Jay-Z, soul singer Jill Scott, and Oscar award winning group Three-6 Mafia are in the works according to previous reports and interviews.

Lupe is scheduled to perform in Central Park's Rumsey Playfield at 'Marc Ecko's Save the Rhinos 2nd Annual Benefit Concert' June 8 and June 24 at the 2nd Annual Brooklyn Hip Hop Festival, which will be held at Tobacco Warehouse in Dumbo, Brooklyn.
