Atlantic Records rapper Saigon was recently stabbed in his temple on 23rd and 9th street in his native New York. Saigon released a statement saying two men wanted his $18,000 chain. "They were probably scheming the whole time," he said. A man he mistook for a fan apparently asked Saigon?s friend, who he describes as "135 lbs. soaking wet", did he sell weed then ripped the chain from his neck. "I took it right back from him and my man knocked him out," he said.

The two proceeded to stomp the man then another man came behind Saigon and stabbed him in the temple. "I started fighting the nigga but I was losing a lot of blood," he recalls. Saigon says he acted like he had a gun and the two ran off, dropping their cell phones in the process. He recovered them. Saigon tried to hail a cab to the hospital because he didn?t want to mess up his car, but his friend eventually drove him to Bellevue Hospital where he was given a blood transfusion and released the next day.

"They said that if I got there later I might not have made it because I lost a lot of blood," he said. Saigon mentioned that Warner Music Group Vice President Kevin Liles called him while he was in the hospital to say he?s "not a regular nigga no more," according to him. He worries about how much of another person?s blood he has, saying, "I just hope that person is as real as me," but is proud to have his chain. "?not that that really matters to me, but nobody is taking nothing from me," he said. "You?ll have to kill me to get my shit." His debut album The Greatest story Never Told is due this year.
