Ok, this is my review on the year 2006, i will be covering many topics and subjects, i hope you all enjoy. The plane crashed in to a high rise apartment building in new york city, The only explanation was that the pilot lost control. No one bystanders or residents of the building were injured. California had a day fire that started on labor day, and consumed more than 400,000 acres of forest and killed over 100,000 animals. Democrats took over congress, They won the house and after the Virgina race, they also took over the senate, many people believe that the takeover will have little effect on any of the decisions made in Washington. Vice president Dick Cheney shot a friend during a weekend hunt for quail, Ironically the friend and campaign contributor ended up apologizing to dick cheney. He was hit with a bird shot, and was hit in the face and chest, he had shot a quail and was trying to come back together with the fellow hunters and surprised the vice president, he then fired a 28 gauge shotgun upon him on February 13th. A deadly shooting took place at an Amish school in lanchester county, the 32 year old gun man wanted to only hurt female victims, killing 5 people. on January 2, 2006 there was an explosion in the Sago mine, The worst part about the tradegy was that there was some mis information saying that all the miners had survived and gave hope to families every where that dark night. In all actuality, only one had survived. Now for some coverage on the war in Iraq. First thing, is that the world re known dictator Saddam Hussein was executed by hanging. At 6:06 Am on December 26th. I will be expressing my views and opinions on this topic, note these are only my views and opinions. he was a very cruel man and deserved everything he got, he brought the citizens of his country back to only a time i can describe as the dark ages, there is nothing in my mind that would give any reason for this not to have happened, it was a good thing but may be in the long run, a turn for the worst. This even may trigger other terrorist attacks similar if not worse to 9/11, there will be more security hikes causing even more delay when you travel cross country or especially overseas. this may or may not put a drain on the economy, there is no doubt that the money required to keep our solders in Iraq not to mention the lives of all the men and women, and the families that lost them. In other news, It looks like hip-hop is making a downfall, it has become more and more crunk and hype instead of the actual feelings and good old fashion lyrics of previous years. People are now preferring something like little john, as to tupac or biggie. Atlanta rapper young Jeezy made it to billboards number one spot, surpassing another Georgia rapper ludacris. while lots of new rappers are getting signed, the purchasing of cds is on a very quick downhill slope due to p2p programs and pirated software. which takes money away from the artist and brings their sales down. This is at an all time high and with the new dvd-rs and new computer technology, movie sales have also been slowly descending, why buy a twenty dollar dvd when you can get it for free minus the cost of a dvd. The legend james brown died on Christmas, he was known as the god father of soul. He died of heart failure. All in all it was a good year, for the most part nothing seriously devastating like another nine eleven happened. Presidential decisions have enraged most of the public, the economy isnt that bad. Gas prices rise and drop but for the most part its not as high as it was at the first of the year. In atlanta gas price was peeking at 4.00 a much much higher rate than normal considering gas normally round about price is 1.50 and thats expensive. Taxes for workers have been cut for those who fit particular categories. Natural disaster are increasing, heres a few that happened recently, An earthquake and tsunami in the kuril islands in November of 06, earthquake in Hawaii on October 15 06, earthquake and tsunami in Indonesia on july 17th, earthquake and tsunami may 3rd in tonga, earthquake January 8th in Greece, to name some of the main ones, not all of them though. Globally, tragic accidents and natural disaster, seem to be on the rise. The law that if you are under the age of seventeen, to obtain your drivers licenses you must take a defensive drivers course was passed, meaning you don't take the course, you have to wait till you are seventeen. When asking some of my friends what they thought of 2006, good year weather, bad year crime, bad year on war fare, bad year on taxes and gas, good year in terms of terrorism, overall rating of the year out of 10, they said 6 on average. Medicaid has declined many people as the limit for it has been decreased to about 1100 dollars a month, leaving many citizens with medical bills pilling up that they cannot afford, also in turn making lots of people not go to the doctor which has brought down Americas over all citizens health down. immigration and illegal aliens, have been seriously getting cracked down on. I will finish this with a report on crime in the district of Columbia from july12th to November 5th, Homicide 54 , sex abuse 105 , robbery 1177 , assault with a deadly weapon 1018 , auto theft 2068 , arson 8.
