If a certain pro wrestler has his way, Jay-Z won’t be throwing up the “Roc sign” any time soon.A federal judge granted Diamond Dallas Page the right to sue Roc-A-Fella, Rocawear, as well as Jay for reportedly stealing his signature diamond sign.The lawsuit, originally filed in Dec. 2005, claims Jay illegally adopted Page’s trademark hand gesture “the Diamond Cutter” to create his own “Roc sign” – citing several articles of Rocawear clothing that depict the symbol.Page is seeking an injunction and if he wins, Jay-Z would be prohibited from throwing up the gesture and be fined an unspecified monetary amount.The World Championship Wrestling athlete first used the hand sign to promote his persona in 1996, eventually patenting it as his brand logo. Page has since used the gesture to sell books, merchandise, and clothing apparel.Meanwhile Jay began using the gesture around 2000 – perhaps most notably in the video for Amil’s “4 Da Fam” single, and later that year on the cover of his “The Dynasty: Roc La Familia” album. Diamond Dallas Page retired from wrestling a few years ago.
