I'm tired of people asking who Rakim is. Rakim has a new album coming out in February entitled The Seventh Seal. I highly recommend everyone from Illest Lyrics get this album. Its his first album since 1999. And his third solo effort. Now before he was solo. He was in a duo with Eric B. They dropped four cds which were all great. Rakim being one of the few artists who just kept getting better through out these efforts. Now you might ask who Rakim inspired. Basically everyone in the game. Before Rakim most lyrics were simple. He took rap and started using complex metaphors and lyrics. Nas credited Rakim with an entire track (biography) on Street disciples. Rakim was innovative to say the least. Rakim rapped about science,mathematics, but basically raps about rapping. He uses vocabulary that is still a rare commodity in hip-hop. Yet he inspired the little that is used. Now that you know a little bit about Rakim. Go get some of his music. And absolutely get his new cd.
