I have seen so far that my flow style can hurt me in text battles and that the whole "built for audio" thing is still hurting me too...
Am I to shorten my flow? But then I'll still be sounding too audio...
It's hard not to sound like something is not built for audio.... because this is rap music...
Here's a major question though..
If my text can take you to a place where you can picture a face to face battle, shouldn't that help me instead of hurt me? "Grabbing the audience" is a major part of battle rap...
I'm just confused at some of the feedback... not saying that it's bad... I just don't understand it...
Everyone says that text and audio battles are way different but I don't see how... A rap battle is a rap battle... Say if I read someone freestyle drop in text then say "Hmm, it's pretty good but it's seem to be built for audio more than a text freestyle." WHAT??!!
I'm not complaining I just really need some JUSTIFIABLE explanations... They have to make sense in order for me to agree... Cuz it's getting old that ppl keep saying my verses sound too audio.. That should be a good thing IMO.... That means my flow is great....
I'll work on shortening my flow for the site but that's my style so it's gonna be tough... I have a battle setup now so I'll give it a shot now... but will it help?? We'll see....
On another note... I've seen battles with lines just as long as mine are and nothing was said to them either... Maybe my style is different?

Re: Questions about text battles VS???
I think what they mean by built for audio is built for live battles? I've seen a lot of punchlines from you that look.... mehhhh on text, but with the right tone of voice and stuff in a live battle the same line could be killer. There are a lot of differences between text and live battles, for instance text gives you more space for complex wordplays that might go over people's heads in a live battle.

I think the major difference is that when you're reading a text battle you have time to read and scrutinize each and every punchline. For that reason the content matters much more than it might in a face to face battle where you might only remember the punches that really stood out. There's also no crowd reaction to sway the judges, either.
As far as flow goes, I try to make shit that could flow on a beat, so I don't know what to say about that. I think your flow is good in your verses. I think only major difference I could point out is that a line in a text battle is usually equivalent to a bar in audio. But you seem to do that too. I dunno. I'm with you on the flow thing.

Re: Questions about text battles VS???
honestly thats what they've said about mine... cuz all i write is in what u claim "audio format" but i write it to where its easy for me to remember how i'm gonna spit it on the mic when i hit the studio... i've posted lyrics on here n people have said the same damn thing to me too... does it make sense??? well think about it this way... these people have been so used to reading that one way of textstyle this whole time... so when an audio head posts his text up here they don't understand... they want punch lines, metas, similies all that shit to be visible so they can comprehend... i don't do that... i write the way i want too cuz i know what the fuck i'm saying... but yes its sometimes hard for an audio head to write in a "text style" format and still stay within the audio side... cuz i'm sure when u write something for audio u don't put the " " or the lines you want to stick out in CAPS... its annoying and very sloppy to try n read that when ur in front of the mic... just fucks up the process... so i say keep doin what ur doin bruh... fuck em if they can't understand what ur tryin to say then i guess the best bet is to stick to audio instead of droppin in the Written section... keep ya head up man
