B.P. Oil Spill

I know people been seeing this in the news and I'd like to thank B.P. for personally fuckin' up any future chance of off shore oil drilling for the near future. Everything you see is "green" now and people are more aware of the environment than ever before and no way is this going to fly. I think we produced enough oil for ourselves until like 1970 and then after that, we started relying heavily on imports. Now that's over 50 % of what we consume. With a growth of over 2%, that's only going to increase, meaning we continue to be dependent upon other nations (mainly, the twisted ass Saudis). Why can't this be fixed? I'm confused. I understand it goes pretty deep into the ocean but if we can launch rockets and spy satelites into space than why in the hell can't they plug a hole?

Pressure keeps us from being versatile under a mile of water.... specialized equipment needs to be made...and i bet it will now be made to prevent issues such as these
