the most basic thing a producer starting out should learn how to get down is drumlines, your drumlines aren't real fluid you have way too many kicks in most patterns and some offbeat sections in some, its fairly easy to learn just from listening to drumlines and practice

3rd beat down was probably the best
Respect this, specialist, black, testing this and get ya necklace jacked
Your after name scratched up off my guestlist, party freak
You the type of nigga that'll hardly speak unless you spoken to
You throw a cold screw but sober up when I'm approaching you
At the same time we postin two niggaz on that ass
Thats gonna do what they supposed to do the limelight
Snatched away from you because its my night
Killarm' blaze hotter than twilight, you better get ya lines right
Half of these crabs cant even rhyme right

yeah, i find it easier to just create what comes to me. right now im jus experimenting seein wat i can come up wit. the first and third ones were the only ones i made with the intent of spittin over in the future.

its not that i dont know how to do drumlines, it's jus a pain in the ass doin it all thru the computer. takes alot of trial n error to get the exact drumline u had in mind to start wit, and in the process, the project kinda evolves as u play it by ear.

need to get me a drum machine.

well drawing drumlines i agree is a pain in the ass, you basically gotta know what pattern you want before drawing it in, or draw sections in one by one

don't bother copping a drum machine(sampler) unless you plan on making sampled beats & want to make everything on hardware

just get a midi controller pad it'll be 10x cheaper and you can do more with it, theirs all kinds of variations ones just like an mpc, ones that have a full keyboard, etc, i usually do all my drums on keys, i'll do the kicks and snares first then the hats/cymbals, then i'll add in extra percussion one by one

with fl you can use your computer keyboard as a midi controller too, doesn't work well trying to play melodys but for drumlines and playing sample chops it's decent
