RELL A BITER!?

I'm not gonna go as far as to say that Rell doesn't come up with original shit...
...but one thing has always been under fire. And that one thing is...

...Rell's style.

In my opinion (and more than just a few others)...he tries way too hard to be like one of his idols, Jay-Z, as far as his writing style is.

Sure...it's a sloppy attempt at being a little Jay-Z Jr., but he mimics Jay's swag none-the-less.

And when you try to mirror someones shit like that...it's called biting.

So tell us in the poll at the top...is Rell a biter or a writer?

He bites style...and now I'm even beginning to think he bites some of his material.

The other day our text battle...here's a piece of his 2nd bar:

"i`ll Pop ya Daughter Outta Her Weddin` Dress & Soccer Shoes ..//"

Now here's a video of Kat Williams last stand-up show.
Kat's skit on mexicans.
He says mexican people let their daughters dress up in wedding dresses and soccer shoes.
Hmmm...sounds pretty familar.
That was the punchline to that joke. Can it be coincidence that Kat and Rell both view latino peoples daughters as goin out and wearing Wedding dresses and soccer shoes!?
Or does it sound like there's a little biting goin on here?

Watch the skit for yourself. Start the video at the 1:30 mark...he says a very similar line to what Rell wrote at about 1:39. You be the judge.

lol idk about it necessarily being biting, because i've heard that somewhere else too, but it could possibly be bitin, but as far as his style, i dont see much connection to Jay Z, rell is more of a punchline fabolous, cassidy, type of rapper, IN MY OPINION. IDK which one to choose but im swayed closer to the 2nd one in the poll.

i can see him bitin the style , but not really wat kat williams said, as a mexican i've pretty much heard every joke there is.. and i myself see how these ppl dress their kids, and the daughters do wear like a big ass dress with gym shoes on, so kat williams wasn't bein too original there, he was more statin a fact by exaggeratin apparel...n e ways i chose the 2nd, considering he might've not heard it from kat williams, just so coincidently that they both mention it.. i don't find the evidence strong enough to say he bit his material.. that's all

Well ofcourse it's not bit word for word...but seldom are lines that are stolen from other artists. Usually someone takes sumthin, and they try to twist it so it somewhat sounds like their own shit...but you can tell whats been bit and what hasn't been bit normally.
And I know ur mex just like me fam...but I do have a few more years on you and as long as I've been around I've heard alot of latin-jokes and shit that pokes fun at our heritage and shit...but never...not once have I ever heard anybody make reference to our daughters dressing up in wedding dresses with soccer shoes. Now we all know stereo typically if it's true or not...but thats not what we're discussing. We're discussing has that punchline or joke ever been heard before! I know that as long as I've been around...Kat Williams was the first I've ever heard that put it out there like that. And believe me...I listen to alot of music and have seen alot of comedy acts before. So unless Kat bit it of someone else...then it still makes him the first to put it out there and he'll still be known as the artist who put it out there publically. So in my eyes when I hear that...and read someone else putting that same punchline description in a verse...it's biting.

it could be, i'm not saying it isn't.. but i'm not saying it is lol... i've dropped lyrics before that later on i heard ppl like cham, em, and nas use after.. not usually word for word but nearly exactly... only problem with that is i'm not famous enough for someone to say they bit it lol.. cuz they obviously made it up and just by coincidence it happened to be wat i said... and i doubt rell would admit to have hearing that joke before.. but until he does i'm not gonna already start pointin the biting out... and if he did.. chances r his other puns r probably bittin too..and i'm sure complexity would have found that out already since he looks into that shit off of othr forums as well which is y thre's been a good handful of biters caught

kinda stupid thread imo he writes nothing like jay-z and if anything he alluded to the stereotype kat williams used so how exactly is that biting? without you actually knowing the stereotype the line makes no sense, it was just a reference if you reference anything you expect people to know what you're referencing if people don't know what you're referencing the line doesn't connect
