Killah Priest Journal 5/26/2006

What's up, everyone? I'm doing good. I just came from the wake of my man Allah Sun. That was sad. I'm just looking at the whole genocide program that these governments are trying. It's so crazy looking at the cycle of life. We have to enjoy the time that we have here and we have to place a lot of consideration into the life we have. We have to take advantage of the time we have on this planet to the maximum with what we do because you never know when it's going to happen.

The wake had a lot of family. AZ came through. Papoose came through and showed love because that was their peoples also. Mostly it was just Brownsville and Bedstuy out there. A lot of the gods showed up. Allah Sun had this song called "They Left Me for Dead" where he's talking about a lot of deep shit in his rhymes. We also did "The Last Shall Be First" produced by Magnetic, who produced a couple of tracks for my album. I was just checking out that whole science. It's deep.

It felt great getting back to New York. I'm hearing a lot of positive feedback from The Prelude to the Offering. People are ready for The Offering now and I feel everybody. It's time for a change. I have meetings here and there. Hopefully the right one will jump on it because I paid my dues. Now it's time to show and prove. I'm going to prove it now. I'm not even going to talk about it no more. I've told all these emcees and everyone else that Priest is coming and I'm not going to stop now.

I saw somebody on the comments was asking if I could bring Nas and Cormega back together. Anything's possible, but I don't know the situation between them. All I know is there's a beef. Anything's possible as long as I'm around. Me and Cormega have to hook up. Every time that we see each other, it's all peace. If I could do that, who knows? Anything's possible.

I'm wondering what everyone's thinking about Jay's verse on the "Hustling (Remix)." It was kind of sick. I think Jay went in for the most part. I have to listen to it again. That's the thing about it, with all these MC's, you hear a lot of them, but you don't hear a lot of us. You get twenty albums apiece, and then you get fifty albums of them in a group, so you know their style and what they're coming with. What we got is vintage. I have vintage shit. I don't mean to be cocky, but I've built with Rakim and people put me up in those categories. It's time for something new. These MC's come with all these albums and then part two's and three's and sequels and it's just crazy.

The last hip-hop album I bought was the Cam'ron joint. I'm not going to front. Cam'ron can rhyme. He makes me laugh my ass off sometimes, but he talks mad gully so I definitely have to hear what he has to talk about.

But I'm going to put out the album that's going to save the day. Nobody's putting out an album that can move me like mine. I'm not worried about that. I don't mean to sound cocky, but nothing out there is really messing with me right now. It's not thought-provoking, there's no type of concept, there's no type of cinematic feel to it, and I can see what MC's are trying to do and where they're trying to go, but they're just not going there.

I'm about to go to Russia. I'm about to get my Russia on. I'm going out there with the GZA on May 30. When I go to those places, I want to see the orthodox churches. When I went to Australia, I wanted to see the Aborigines and the jungles. I'll take my camera with me. I want to see a lot of the historic parts. That's my first time I'm going to be out that way. I'm definitely going to go out there and get shit moving.

I'm about to go see the Da Vinci Code. There's a lot of books out there I want everybody to check out. This week's book is going to be The Protocols of the Zion and William Cooper's Behold a Pale Horse. We're taking it back. The most simple things and the things we've heard before are happening now. There's a genocide going on right now. I'm serious. Look at what America is doing right now. We're on a global takeover right now. Shit's about to get shut down. We, as a people, are going to have to be in tune. This isn't no scare message or no new-age movement or no religious cult movement. This is a spiritual reality check. The soul, the body, and the mind are going to have to be combined to fight off this genocide coming through. That's why I have to come out with The Offering, The Midnight Offering, and all these albums. It's gotten me to the point where I'm just going to record.

Go out and get information and don't let your enemy know. Don't let your right hand know what your left hand is doing.

I'm back from Australia. That trip was incredible. It was amazing. It was my first time out there. I saw Perth, Sydney, and Melbourne. It was so wild how the fans accepted me and GZA out there. They went crazy for GZA, but when they saw I was the special guest, they lost their mind. That makes you keep on pushing it. I also sold a lot of Prelude to the Offering mixtapes.

I went to the beach out there. It was crazy. I saw a dolphin. Then we went to the museum and aquarium. I like animals like that. We saw the sharks and the dolphins and everything. Self-Scientific was chilling with us too. It was crazy. Me and GZA spazzed out in the room and were going back-and-forth with the rhyming, writing and chilling.

And DJ Muggs is crazy! We were bugging out. We were actually going to record out there but the people lost our luggage. Me and Muggs' luggage was lost for a minute. We were going to knock some tracks out. Me and GZA worked on our routines…And I played The Offering for everyone and they lost their minds.

The women in Australia are sexy. There's also a lot of wildlife out here. There's more than kangaroos. It was nice and clean. It wasn't dark like Europe. It was sunny. It was like Cali and Miami mixed together. We saw surfers and everything.

I also got a chance to sit back out there and think and plot. I'm ready to do another mixtape and then hit them with The Offering.

When you're gone for awhile, you're always happy to be home, but to be honest with you, I could have done another six months out there. The hotel was bananas. It was crazy. I have to go back out there. Australia's great.

I also got to see the Aborigines. We got to see a couple of them. They were real dark and they had pale hair. I didn't get to really build with none of them, but it was amazing to see them.

I was in the hotel and one dude came up to me like, "Yo Priest, whaddup?" Then he started kicking "B.I.B.L.E." to me and he was breaking down my albums and telling me how my albums touched him. It was crazy.

When me and GZA were on stage, it was crazy. Our chemistry was so crazy that the promoters said they always want me to be with GZA. GZA's show alone is incredible and our chemistry works so well on stage. We did "4th Chamber" and "Beneath the Surface." When we did "Beneath the Surface," the crowd lost their mind.

I'm trying to get in the studio this week and I'm trying to get up with a lot of my comrades.

This is important. One of my peoples just passed away, Allah Sun, Mr. Sunshine. He was from Maccabeez and Black Market. He was murdered. That really messed me up. He was on "Live by the Gun" on View from Mesada. He was with me throughout the making of The Offering. That's disturbing to me what happened. He just did a song with Papoose. I want you to know he was a beautiful brother. His poetry was sick and his flow was crazy. He always kicked knowledge every time you'd see him. He had a cool demeanor about him. He was a real brother. A real brother. You don't find too many like that. He was very militant. He was a revolutionary at heart. I just want the world to know we lost someone who was very strong and very talented lyrically. He was a lyrical genius. Before 50 came along, he could sing and rhyme at the same time, and he did it intelligently. He was Daddy Rose's brother from Maccabeez. My condolences go out to his family and Daddy Rose.

The plan right now is to get on the grind. I just hit up a couple execs and I have a couple of meetings. The plan right now is to get The Offering out and to let the world know that Priest is here. I've been getting a lot of good feedback. I'm on my grind. People have been putting out a lot of songs on me right now. I'm so focused on what I have to do that I'm not going to let anything distract me from that. I have to execute this deal now. I'm going to go real hard on the streets right now. That's what it's about right now. I'm trying to get my name out there and stay busy. I'm about to get up with some more cats. I've been reading some of the comments on the journal about Nas. We just kicked it at a party, so that's going to be great. We're going to do some work. That's my man right there. Everyone loved the song we did together, that's not even for the album. We're definitely going to work out some new things. That's a cool brother. Things are just moving right now. I'm just going to stay on my grind and hit up the streets. I got a team now. I got a couple female MC's around me right now, and some singers. I think everybody's ready for The Offering.

What's up? I'm great. I'm just chilling. I just did an interview on Shade45 with Ras Kass. I'm on my way to Australia right now. I'm leaving at 6:00. I've never been on that side of the world before.

A lot of people have been coming up to me telling me about the journal. That's been great. I've been loving the comments on the journal. I definitely thank HipHopGame for giving me this opportunity because there is a lot I have to tell you. I first came in through the RZA and the GZA. A lot of cats don't even know that history and how I got here. For the RZA and the GZA to take me in, I mean, I was their number-one student. I was their number-one cat. Learning all that stuff around the RZA was crazy. Then he took me to the GZA. Being around them and learning the game around them and now having to come out on my own has been a great experience as far as this music industry is concerned. I've had rocky roads, but who doesn't? Everything has to come out right.

People have to know my stats. People tell me I've always been humble, but I know what I'm worth and I know what I'm capable of. I've been around some of the greatest MC's out there and I've been told by G. Rap and KRS-One that my lyrics are dope. I'm fans of these dudes and they told me good things about my lyrics. When G. Rap tells you that your shit is crazy, you've got to be like, "Ok, I'm writing some shit now."

A lot of cats ask if I'm religious. No. "Religion" comes from a Greek word which means "to divide and conquer." I don't like to diss any religion or sect, but I am not a part of any religion. I don't want to discriminate against anybody because I know people love the music, but I deal with nationalities.

Defiinitely check out Chino XL's album "Poison Pen." He's one of the greatest lyricists. We were going back-and-forth on the phone. He told me, "When we do this, it's going to be nuts." I knew that. As soon as we finish up the Black Market Militia album, I want to do something with Chino. What can I say about dude? He's incredible. He's got the total package. He dropped an incredible verse on the song we did together, I did my thing, and that was it.

Right now, I'm just concentrating on my album before we start working on the Black Market Militia. I have to get in touch with Tragedy Khadafi. Right now, everybody is just going strong. I have some people out in VA, Tribes of Judah. I got my man Crown Prince. He's a very deep brother. He's on MySpace.

I saw the comment about me doing an album with GZA. We were just talking about that. We're thinking about that. I think it's time we come together and bring it back to the way it used to be. We were talking about that over the last couple of weeks. I think it's time for us to do it. When we get out to Australia, we'll see what happens. We'll toss around some thoughts. I think that it's time for us to put some real incredible shit together. Let's do it.

I saw someone asking me about the books I read. I've read a lot of history books and a lot of spiritual books. Now they got movies that I'll be checking out. I love checking out the movies and stuff like that. That's all a part of it.

I'm going to explore the other side of the world this week. Going out to Australia is going to be dope. I like animals. I definitely want to get over there and check that out. Other than that, I'm just going to be doing shows and selling CD's.

I hope you checked out the Marvin Gaye Here, My Dear album. He was deep. He said a lot of incredible stuff. He has this song called "God is Love." He was there. I know the drugs took their toll, but Marvin Gaye is one of my favorite artists.

I want to check out the movie Silent Hill. I wanted to see V for Vendetta. Hell Razah and Nas told me to check out that one.

I also got "The Prelude to the Offering" out now. You can check that at my website. I also have some of my oldies on the site, KillahPriest.com. I've been getting a lot of great responses in the street. The younger generation seems to have taken an interest in me which is cool.
