Killah Priest Journal 7/3/06

Post by complexity »

My week is definitely going ok. There's a wicked person out there who's got KillahPriest.com and they're trying to take over my name and my site. I'm working on getting the whole situation together. People are so silly when they have to hold people down and pull people back. That's just dealing with life, basically.

Lil' Kim getting out of jail should be good for hip-hop. Most likely, being incarcerated gives you more time to read. Maybe she has some more things to say. I can't wait to hear it.

I really want to thank the people who have been supporting me and are down for the cause. Thank you.

You also have to check out PrisonPlanet.com and how they're planning on putting a shackle on the brain.

I didn't watch the BET Awards. I missed this one. I heard it was kind of bogus. I heard it was kind of gay. That's what happens when you don't support real hip-hop. They're trying to do to hip-hop what they did to jazz and that's make it more mainstream and all that. It's going to come back, just like my site. BET is not Black Entertainment Television. BET, I don't know who they're hiring right now. I just have to stick to doing what I do. All these corporations are run by a higher power that governs the rules and they're all under the umbrella. It's all under the dark forces. Young Jeezy, all those guys, they're all the same. I don't even watch too much TV, but I would take MTV over BET because they're showing all types of stuff.

I'm working on a new mixtape right now. There's going to be some new exclusives and all that. I have some other things in the workings and I need to give the people what they want from me. People want me to take them to another planet. I'm well-respected and they want that raw Priest.

Another thing I'm real happy about is my son graduating from high school. I know I already mentioned this, but I need to mention it again. The graduation was live. I ain't even going to front. I had a son when I was real young and seeing him graduate was incredible. The graduation was fly. Everybody was there including his moms. It was just a beautiful feeling. I'm not going to try to push emceeing on him. He's going to do what he wants to do. He's been on one of my albums before. It's really up to him. My middle son just takes the pen sometimes and starts putting stuff down. He has some fly joints. I would never push it on them, though, because it's up to them. I used to play a lot of football. That was my first love. You know how the story goes...it turns into the streets. But I played for awhile and then I started wanting to get into rap music.

I want to talk about View From Masada because we haven't really talked to much about that. That's better than a lot of albums out now. It was my second LP and at the time, I think that a lot of songs on View From Masada that got pulled off. It was definitely a dope album and it was different, and a lot of people didn't take to it. It had some hard songs on there like "Maccabee Revolt" and "Hard Times." There were some party/happy joints on there too. They were still dope. I just don't think MCA pushed it hard enough. It taught me to stick to what I do. They wanted me to do songs that would play on the radio, but it's not about making a song for the radio. It's about making songs to push to radio. It's not about radio-friendly songs. It's about pushing the songs. A lot of dudes are trying to make pretty-ass hooks and it's all fabricated because it's about who's pushing it and how it's getting pushed. I think View From Masada is dope even though they took off "Last Supper" and "Fall of Solomon." There were a lot of tracks on there that showed different sides. I showed "Gotta Eat" which was sick. I think that was a different type of style where I could show cats Priest is gothic and I study literature. I can also get drunk and I can also tell stories. One song that a lot of people sleep on is "When Are We Ever Going to Learn?" Another song that stands out is "If I Die." I know a lot of MC's listen to that song right there because I can hear it's influence. I just wanted to show another side of hip-hop and art. At the time of View From Masada, I had just bought my house, my cousin was alive, and I was talking to Amil at that time. There was a lot of stuff going on then. My cousin died and I was starting to see a lot of people's true colors. I had to do what I had to do so I could learn what I had to learn.

I have a show out in California soon. I'm going out there for a month just to get everything right. Then I'm going to shoot back. I'm getting the album cover solidified right now. That's what we're doing right now. It looks great. I have volumes coming of The Offering. I have a lot of things that I want to do. If anyone wants to collaborate with me, shout me out. You can reach me at [email protected]. Make sure you cop the mixtape too.

Don't forget to check out PrisonPlanet.com and check out the science of Deuteronomy. Read the 15th chapter all the way down to the 68th. Tell me what you think of it after you read that.
