Eric “Flyy B” Henson was born in Baltimore, Maryland on August 24, 1989. At the age of 15, Flyy B moved to Philadelphia, PA. At the age of 17 it was discovered that Flyy B was lyrically talented when he recorded a freestyle over Lil’ Wayne’s track “Go DJ” featuring Joey Jihad (also a rapper from Philadelphia). Being featured on mixtape tracks with Jihad and other local Philly rappers, created such a buzz that it caught the attention of Power 99 (WUSL), Philadelphia’s largely known, DJ Diamond Kuts (BET host and currently Nicki Minaj’s personal DJ). Diamond Kuts, who played many of his freestyles and a single “Shorty Got A*”* on her radio show, eventually approached Flyy B to help him guide his career.
Diamond Kuts introduced Fly B to former Jive executive Darrell Wright, who took Fly B on as the first client of his management company Intruders Entertainment. He was featured on two of DJ Diamond Kuts records, “Main Attraction” (Featuring DJ Khaled, Ace Hood, Gillie Da kid and Diamond from Crime Mobb), and “Ain’t Sayin’ Nothin’”. He was also featured on a track by Mont Brown featuring Gillie da Kid called “Who’s Kewler than me?”
By the time Fly B was 20 years old he moved back to his hometown Baltimore, MD where he now continues his professional recording career. Flyy B’s lyrical word play was influenced by a combination of living in Baltimore and Philadelphia. Flyy B is influenced by artists such as Lil’ Wayne and the whole Cash Money/Hot Boyz Crew, Tupac, DMX, Naughty By Nature, Nas, Mase, Method Man, and Busta Rhymes just to name a few. As Flyy B’s career continues, he hopes to be able to inspire young people who come from the same circumstances and background that he comes from to follow their goals.
