Twiztids tutorial on public speaking

Discuss what ever is on your mind, the only rule is that you leave the hip hop talk to the other forums. Want to know what others are watching on TV, this is where you'd ask.

Twiztids tutorial on public speaking

Post by TwIzTiD »

Twiztid Views and opinions on confident public speaking.

A lot of people are scared of talking in front of a big group. Let alone rap or put something on a track. Letting people make you nervous is a bad habit and you have to get over the fear. There are a couple ways or doing this and a couple steps you must make forward before you'll be able to actually talk and show off your rap verses in front of a large group. Just think of it like this, You talk to you friends all the time right? Well Say your in school and you tell a friend that last night you snuck out of the house and with some of your friends and you did something wrong. Well the next day you find yourself facing all kinds of people you don't know or have any idea of talking about it. What happened was basically telling it in front of a whole group of 100-200 people. You told your friend, your friend told 2 people they each told two people. Your embarrassed and a little scared at first, but after a while it just kind of blows over and everyone doesn't talk about it at all if any. So see how that works? You just need to view it in a different aspect. Look, people are going to voice their opinions no matter what you do or say so you might as well voice yours even louder then theirs. Thinking of about the fact that there are so many people staring down your neck and watching your every move, and it makes you nervous. Don't think of them as judging you, start small. Talk with a group of friends about some personal things and see how that makes you feel. After that, Start a conversation at a bus stop, on the street or anywhere else. You'll find yourself lost in conversation with complete strangers. Ever talked to a complete stranger? Guess what, that's public speaking. You just let someone you don't even know, know about you or something as simple as the weather outside. There is no reason to be afraid to talk front of people. Everyone has faults, think of the president, hardly anyone likes him, yet he is viewed by millions every single day. I really doubt that he knows every one of those people. How does he do it? He doesn't let people get to him. Your words are just as valuable as anyone and there's no reason to hide it. The feeling of butter flies in the stomach and or nausea is caused by fear. Only you can truly figure out what makes you feel like this, butter flies will make it horrible and hard for you to do anything in public. If you can write an essay and give it to a teacher you can speak in public. Prepare for you speech, talk about it over and over, memorize it, that way you don't have to worry about forgetting what you were going to say. Using a script makes you more nervous because you have to look back and forth between the script and your audience. Put it on index cards and then out numbers on the back, memorize what each one has on it and see if you can recite it from the number on the back. Be calm, Don't speak to fast, people wont be able to understand you. Be energetic in the same sense, speaking to slow will cause the people to fall asleep and yawn which makes you feel horrible, trust me. Body language is important, use facial expressions to put enthusiasm into your words and say it loud and proud. When you practiced in your head, if you are still nervous, just act like your in your room talking to yourself, you don't judge yourself as bad as you think others do. Imagine something that makes you laugh in the audience if you get nervous in the middle, laughter will make you smile which will make you get back on track. Don't talk about a topic that you don't really know anything about, if you plan on that, learn all about the topic before hand so you wont ramble, you all know you did that on a school project or something else to an extent and winged it. Practice in front of family if your not confident in front of friends, these people know everything about you and it will make you more comfortable. Relax before the presentation, clear your mind and just sit there and relax. Realize that nothing they can say or do can hurt you physically, while it can sting mentally it can do nothing really to formally hurt you in the long run. If you still cant handle speaking in public just keep following the steps, Remember, every time you do it and make a speech in front of people it will get easier and easier, before you know it you'll be talking in front of large groups like a whole school event like a talent show. Come up with your own routine to help prepare your self for the shock of being in front of a large group and bearing your heart and soul to them. If this doesn't work, don't give up, keep trying, you never know you could be the next representative of a very important corporation or the next Eminem. but you have to keep at it don't let anything stop you keep at it. It could help you get a better career and a better life you'll be helping yourself seriously in the long run as long as you don't let them get to you. Just keep these helps tips and hints in mind as you prepare for you five minutes in the spot light and you'll have no trouble at all. You'll also have the satisfaction of conquering your fear, there is no feeling better than bettering your self, you'll also realize that you should have been doing this for a long time, there is nothing to it, so what are you waiting on, Get writing!
