The Task of the Craft
Are you ready for the task?
Can you carry on the craft?
Will you overcome--- what you lack?
What I've done- in this rap
is to wonder and to ask- you and others if you'll last- through the thunder and the crash---
cuz the clouds, they have clashed,
and the sounds scream and blast.
while the world is attacked
by the torrents- of the present and the past
I've explored- what it is that I can grasp,
but what for- if I never shift into action.
Are you ready for the task?
Can you carry on the craft?
Are you weary of illusions that are cast
by the movers of sedition and their wrath?-
The conditioned misperceptions of the masses
have initiated little innovative action,
so let us demonstrate to mass men
how we motivate the movement by uprooting the moment to find the everlasting.
Are you ready for the task?
Can you carry on the craft?
Are you buried in the past
or perhaps unaware of what has passed?
Cuz in fact, hip-hop is not a fad
(and) at it's tip-top it can span
from the heart to the soul
and be mixed hot like a volcano
that spits props- to those who came before...
It's not what you thought, it's so much more...

Re: The Task of the Craft
You're quickly becoming one of my favorite writers in the scriptures.
That first verse was perfectly constructed and read awesome. The other two verses were nice as well.
I felt the first verse had the most content and pretty much said it all.
Nice shit, period.

This came off more of a poem to me, then again that's how it feels
the whole vibe you give off though is something else man, got a smooth vibe
a slick use of words, the flow of it is very nicely written, so that's cool
you did your thing though man, good job!

Re: The Task of the Craft
this was prolly one of the best pieces ive read from you so far. had a nice smooth flow man, came off really nice. no complaints really yo just keep doin ya thing.
Re: The Task of the Craft
I agree with QZ that it did have a poetic feel to it and I also think that it would sound ill as an audio. Not even necessarily with a beat but if you did have a smooth track for this I could see it being a great song.
I don't drop rhymes all the time, but when I do, I prefer to spit fire
Re: The Task of the Craft
Man. The first verse...dam it flows soooo clean man wtf. Shits crazy.
Like plex said the whole thing reads easy, and you actually made me question myself after reading this, and that's cool because its usually poetry that does that to me. So you can really put some substance in your raps and I like that. The whole this was solid the first verse just stuck out with its flow... again... dam man. Keeps writting and I will keep reading.

POET OF THE YEAR 2011

I'm often soft like cotton but my message is clear, my words hold weight like "dumbos" ears.

Re: The Task of the Craft
Glad to know so many people felt this one so much. These are actually only a few snippets out of the whole song, there's quite a few more that go along wit em, I just didn't add em here since sometimes people's reading patience (mine included) is much shorter than their listening patience. I have a beat that these were written with too, but though the lyrics fit the beat well, the beat is far from my favorite, so I'm kinda on the lookout for a beat that'd be a better match with these lyrics. Every time I make a new instrumental I test it with these lyrics to see if it is the perfect match to light it's fire. But still awaiting the perfect beat...

Man this flow was fucking sick. Tongue twisting at some points. Nice. I liked how you put this together too. Kinda in your face with it approach. Nice drop fam. Keep bringing it to the table.
