Re: Nas Washed Up?
washed up? i wouldnt say that...different? yes..
his flow and topics have changed but that doesnt make him wack...look at rakim...he raps differently now then he did in the early 90's but hes still sick...
i just find it funny that nas always gets this thrown on him but jay z who raps so elementry ever since the black album is considered to be the greatest ...
you want to talk about fell off?..lets look at royce da 59..rock city was a classic album....he hasnt dropped anything close to it since

Re: Nas Washed Up?
Jay-Z fell off after Reasonable Doubt IMO. All them In My Lifetime albums sucked, especially the second one. Black album was good, Kingdom Come was decent, Blueprint albums were all hit and miss, even the recent one. He's just too commercial now. He's hella predictable now too, same material, same producers. Its like he just keeps trying to put out another Black album over and over.
I don't think Nas is washed up, I just think he's out of ideas and has lost interest in the game. He's built a hell of a reputation for himself and is considered one of the greatest to rock a mic. Dude has plenty of money, so what's the drive for him to make records? I think he will eventually drop something like a Killmatic, but who knows when.
But this is pretty common shit with musicians. They drop an incredible debut album and can never recreate it or live up to it no matter how hard they try. After that first taste of success, they lose the hunger and drive that made the first album so good. Then they sellout to drop albums that go platinum to maintain their new luxury lifestyles. Its like a college athlete going pro. They have that heart in em for a couple seasons, then they grow an ego and lose their passion for the game, focused too much on the $$$. That's why I'll never do something I love for a living. Once money is involved, its no longer a passion, its a job, and it ruins the whole thing. That's why you don't see gearheads working in garages. Its hard to work on your project car when you've been turning wrenches all day.
