I Remember

I remember.
The green lawn chairs
The Cans Of Canadian
2 menthol cigarettes burning.
A time where I could sing and harmonize with anyone
and I did.
We sang cousin Mary while the mosquitos sucked our blood.
He picked.
My dad and I played and the three of us sang.
We made jokes about starting a band - E squared - Haha.
It makes me giggle.
He said to me,
"Be good kid."
I replied "Never"
And he said "Yeah I know."
10:45 am
He was cursing his front yard and the damn weeds
and he dropped dead of a heart attack.

She was as good as a grandmother.
The one who would talk about home
About the emerald isle.
The last words she said were,
"Try to matter. Try your best and try to matter in this world."
She mattered.
And So Did Eurl.
