Okay.

So are you ready for my review of this cool, hip, and stylish neo-metal opera?

First of all, let me just start off by saying that this could have been amazing. My mind could have been blown. I could have walked away from this film feeling inspired. Instead, I walked away from it wanting to prove just how easy it is for anyone with a drive to pick up a guitar and write the first thing that comes to their head to actually re-write this script and make it better.

Parts of this film really shined. Very few parts. The instrumentation and production were top notch, but the half-produced vocals sounded as if they were made up on the spot. For some reason, everyone in this "musical" sang EVERY LINE of their fucking script! With a few exceptions, of course. But not just that, in the same key to boot! The scales used in the songs changed uncomfortably and without inflection or relevance to the actual mood of the story. It's like...It's as if they tried to make Evanescence more... interesting? Maybe? But failed miserably due to a lack of understanding for what makes music, film-making, and musicals in general truly an art.

OGRE played his part well. Paris Hilton's opera performance was eerily similar to her actual performance anywhere else, which was both amusing and painful. The grave robber was probably the only character besides the Repo Man himself who actually delivered and showed promise that this movie might be worth an hour and a half of my time. Time I could be spending writing this movie.

Overall, it seemed to me to be a weak and rushed attempt at re-creating the drama, passion, visual representation, time, energy, and mood that Baz Luhrman has already brought to the table.

If I had to sum this movie up using one word, that word would be ANTI-CLIMACTIC.

I'm kinda excited about the Friday the 13th movie, and wondering when the hell Nightmare on Elm street will get its shitty remake.

Elm Street, They're Using a Different Guy For Freddy. Now it's Different Using Different Actors To Play The Part Of a Masked Killer, But Freddy's a Cultural icon, His Face is Robert Englund's. i Really Can't See Anybody Else Putting On The Glove.
