Lil Wayne and Ja Rule, who were both arrested on Sunday for weapons charges, are out on bond and claiming that the guns police discovered are not theirs.
New Orleans rapper Lil Wayne was released Monday evening on $70,000 bond, and he is scheduled to appear in court again in November for a felony charge of gun possession.
Meanwhile Ja Rule was released on $150,000 bond and expected back in Manhattan Criminal Court on Nov. 7 for the same charge in a separate incident.
Both rappers were arrested after a concert in Manhattan's Beacon Theatre when officers discovered a .40-caliber pistol in each of their possessions. Lil Wayne also faces drug charges for criminal possession of marijuana.
Stacey Richman, attorney for Lil Wayne, said that both arrests seem a little suspicious – adding that Lil Wayne “was in the [tour] bus in his boxer shorts with a number of other people … Unless his boxer shorts had a pocket for this gun, I don't understand how he had it on him.â€
