Nah...cuz the fact of the matter is, is that we're all underground artists in one way or another. Very few of illests members are here as spectators...the majority here drop writtens, audio, poems etc, etc. That makes you an underground artist. So actually Plex raises a good question. Cuz some of us here are good and show potential...and some of us here don't shine as bright and will most likely be here doin this muzik-biz as a hobby. I think what Plex is asking y'all to do is not say Who Sucks here (cuz it's never about discouragement...it's about constructive critisism and being positive)...but say who you think here is under-rated as in good. Who has the potential to make it a the next emcee...or the next big composer and producer...who do you think you can seriously see moving out of the underground slot and working professionally in the muzik industry in some way!? I think that's what he's sayin by under-rated. For example...I can name quite a few but I'll just pull one out of the hat.

Da Guy. I couldn't stand that lil nigga when he first showed up on illest. But the truth is...is he's a good writer. He's obviously grown as a writer...I'm sure we can all see the difference. And I think that he could do sumthin in the industry one day. I don't know how is flow is...but as a ghost-writter or structure artist. Editor maybe...I say he's pretty good. Not fabulous...but very under-rated. I think he's got a future.

So more or less I think that's what Plex is lookin for. Who in illest is underated as far as the over-all industry may be concerned!?

Lol Yah i Agree, a Lot Of Ppl Just Judged Da Guy By 1st impressions And Never Wanted To See Him Get Better. And Never Gave Him Much Credit For Getting Better Cuz He\'d Still Be \'That Guy Who Types in Caps\' To Them. i Think He\'s Came a Long Way Though And it Doesnt Look Like He\'ll Stop Elevating.

i agree with the first half of the post, one problem is people rarely give constuctive critism or tell how they feel honestly about something, either cause they don't wanna be mean, or they're cool with the person, or whatever reason, and its really more detrimental to the person than telling him how you actually feel, cause if they think what they're doing is good already they won't strive to improve

another problem is that people can't handle constructive criticism whether they'd like to admit or not, the first instance someone has a negative response to something they did, they got a rolodex of excuses of why they didn't like it, people don't have any integrity or respect for their work so when they here anything negetive they immediately attempt to downplay instead of actually taking the opinion for what it is

but the last part i can't really agree with, being this is an internet forum and all 90% of the people are doing is rhyming words on paper with no musical aspect involved, yeah some of them might be good but assuming they may have a successful career in music just from that is a little ridiculous, theirs probably just as many textcees as emcees in the world, and considering 95% of emcees won't ever amount to shit, the outlook for textcees isn't too pretty, rhyming words isn't that hard anybody with a good vocabulary should be able to do it with ease

even the people that do record or produce aren't polished at it, they may sound semi professional but some aspect of what they're doing is lacking, and one thing they all lack is motivation and resources, being a producer or mc even as a part time occupation isn't really part-time, you have to put in plenty of work build plenty of relationships and work your ass off just to make the money someone working a minimum wage 9-5 would make, the markets overrsaturated and its going to continue to be until the hip hop fad in pop culture whithers away and dies, alotta underground mcs that are popular and have a good amount of fans still have to rely on something other than music as a source of income, and aspiring to be a mainstream mc is even more ridiculous considering the amount of mainstream emcees that get pushed per year, maybe a dozen? probably less actually, and if they don't go platinum or at least gold after receiving any kind of a push all the profits they could've made are spent recouping the losses for what the label spent on the push, and they receive very little compensation for being a "star"
