interested in what ya'lls stance on religion is and the reasons why you are religious or why aren't you religious

for the most part i agree with you lawgix, but religion isn't really a "stupid" concept, organized religion is for the most part worthless though

religion is a way of controlling people and explaining the mysterys of life dont' have any clue about

btw... when you reply with your views list what religion you are and why you choose that religion

im not realllly religious but like my family seems to think they r i jus hate the fact that ppl r born into a religion i think they should grow up and pick one for themselves, and i hate pplwho take every word literally in a religious book or wateva like there there for guidlines and stuff not for like ppl to kill u if u dnt follow it

well ima a christian i belive dat jesus rose from the dead and is on his way at anytime and thats what i grew up belivin and still are!

i agree thats part of the reason why i made this thread, sadly no matter how "open minded" a person may believe they are they still retain their parents views on most issues, the lack of a logical thought process is way too common in a society this advanced

i'ma christian i beleive in God The Spirit & The Holy Ghost... n its not "religion" in itself... its all the different types of religion i have a problem with... cause i mean christianity was based on God, n then u get the Jews who beleive in Moses, n so on n so forth, but i don't beleive that u are forced to go to a building surrounded by images that "could" be the face of Jesus n have them preach on how good He was... we all know He was awesome... n we don't need an old dude or a young guy telling us this every Sunday n collection is just stupid... half of that money doesn't go to churches thats why the "church" provides the house for the ministers to live in and their cars... i mean i walked out of a church once and there was a guy driving a brand spankin new 2000 Oldsmobile fully loaded with leather seats... n he told me it came out of his pocket... n he didn't really do nething at all...

well like i said i beleive in what i beleive i was raised to beleive that... n another thing about churches is that u can go to them n tell them whats on ur mind n stuff but what if their shady as shit n try to use that against u down the road?

do you know how christianity started?

do you know that storys about a man who was born from a "virgin" mother, and was put on a crucifix and somehow was ressurected back to life a few days later existed hundreds of years before jesus?

do you know where everything in the bible comes from?

do you know theres been sections of the bible removed and added hundreds of years after it was compiled, and the bible wasn't even created 'till many generations after what supposedly happened in it did?

do you know that their were religions that existed 1-2 thousand years before christianity, if their is only one god and religion thats right why wasn't christianity followed instead of these other religions?

do you know that even the pope says that you shouldn't take the bible literal?

why aren't dinosaurs or primative people mentioned in the bible when we know they existed?

why has christianity changed its views on the solar system and the earths structure in the past 400 years? if the bible is words from god the only omnipotent being why would he have given false information that isn't even remotely close ot the truth

I think religion is a good thing, and helps lead you to the afterlife without fear or anything... helps with struggles and helps you have someone to turn to, i guess. I really dont have a religion, but I'm trying to get into the whole 'i beleive in god' thing again, I mean i guess i do beleive, but i really dont know as much as i should to be considered faithful to a religion. My mom is actually wiccan/ paegan... and really doesnt have an influence on my point of veiw on religion, but its cool sometimes to hear her point of veiw on things.
