Do's and Don'ts of Battling

Do - Clown on any weakness others have noticed also in your opponent, You can also clown on things others haven't noticed but clowning on something others have noticed is more likely to help you get votes
Don't - Make up fake personals to clown on your opponent, if the personal isn't true it isn't effective
Do - Direct your entire verse at your opponent seeming as brutal, unrelentless, & witty as possible
Don't - Direct even like 1/4 of your verse about yourself, A battle isn't about how "ill" you may believe you are it's about how horrible your opponent is
Do - Use a common vocabulary, not george w bush level but more of a skilled mc level, Don't use words people have never heard before just cause you know what they mean
Don't - Use the biggest words you know hoping that it'll help your verse out, Don't use lyrical repeatedly or make up words like "lyrical muscle" and shit like that, it makes you look retarded and reminscent of Canibus during his Mic Club phase
Do - Make all your bars a similar length so the structure and flow is solid
Don't - Make every bar a different length just so you can fit a punchline in, if you can't fit a line in the structure and flow you're using chances are you're not a good enough writer to use the line properly and it won't help your verse much
Do - Make creative but easy to follow references in your punchlines and disses
Don't - Use obscure references just because you think they're more creative, nobody gives a fuck what you're saying if they don't know what you're talking about (I'm not telling you to dumb down your verses, The greatest punchline rappers are great because everybody got what they were saying, if you use wack ass medevil references or references to star wars episodes they're not nice and only geeks are going to get what your saying) I've seen sooooooooo many mcs defend simple plays on words like it was gods greatest invention and get pissed when they get voted against the majority of the time the reference has little relevance in the battle, people get what your saying they just don't think its nice
Do - Use multis and complex rhyme schemes while using punchlines and personal disses
Don't - Use multis in a bland generic verse and expect to win, your multis don't mean shit if your content isn't solid
