Now Hip-Hop always featured some of this. Think gangsta error. Chino Xl was saying hip-hop sucks in 1997. Others before it. Its not that Hip-Hop hasn't had all of this before. Its just now all the combinations of lack luster hip-hop are together. Now if your going to just make hits to get drunk to. Call it PARTY MUSIC.
My problem is I can't figure out for the life of me why anyone would listen to music about celebrities talking about their high profile life style through out a whole record. I guess that's what MTV is all about. Seeing the life of celebrities. That shit don't interest me at all.
At least if your making music about killing someone. You can be creative, tell a story. Yet you have an artist like game. Who uses absolutely no creativity. He just tells you he is going to kill you.
When I get a cd. I expect to find something different on the record. I don't want to know exactly what I'm getting. (think Nas stillmatic, political songs, songs in rewind, diss tracks, about streets of Ny, philosophical song, arrogant song). Yet If i were to get an album from Lil Jon. I know for a fact I would just get 15 songs of him telling me to GET Crunk. Their is nothing appealing to me about that.
I'm not going to argue with anyone. Saying that I don't listen to music that has been dumbed down. I mean I like Jay Z right? But if you dumb it down so much that the crack head on the block is hitting her rock all day listening to it. I don't even want to be acknowledged for liking hip-hop. That shit is just embarrassing.
Now before you jump on me about dissing southern rap. You would actually be making your own conclusions. Thats not my opinion. You will realize that the list I made at the top for the reasons hip-hop is dead. Yet its a pretty diverse group of people. You might not agree with everyone I listed. Though I have a motive for each one. And will explain from my perspective.
I understand that people like different music. Nothing wrong with that. Just remember when you get to the roots of hip-hop. Its not like what it is today. If hip-hop is going to be changed then maybe your genre. Us true hip-hop people stick to hip-hop.
This subject in reality is quite complex. There is no way we are going to please everyone on this message board. Or is this debate going to be settled for a long time. Its cool to talk about it though with a level head. You can look at the situation from someone else's perspective.
