both need to be in sync and as far as that ^ i guess.. if youre making dance music but thats electronic not hip hop say what you want but a killer song has both

I agree with Leeroi. Imo it really depends on wat kind of music it is. For example 50 cent songs say the saaaame shit. The beats in his songs is wat keeps me listenin. But for me to listen to a song fo years it needs to have some sort of meaning to the vocals and the beat needs to hit me straight up. I dono. Its a good topic to talk about.

I mean, theres alot of self hype hip hop tracks out there and if that for example doesnt hav a good beat to go off on its pointless imo. But other songs that tell a story or a serious subject, only need a set of drums and maybe one nice piano loop. .. U no it depends.

LYrics for me... theres plenty of wack ass songs with dope beats.. orignally it was all about the beat, in the year of the DJ in the 80s, than the 90s was more lyrical shit.. now its kinda back to beat like fuck the lyrics and shit... but i still think its the lyrics... EMCEES arent hype men for the dj no more..

PLus battles are done mostly accapella..

yeah it takes Both to ,make a hit...but personally i could listen to a song with dooope lyrics and a dope concept for months ..even if the beat isnt that good....lyrics come first to a lyricist..

Lyrics cause if a song just has a good beat it just gets boring but if the lyrics are nice ill listen to that song for a year or two
