Sen. Reid wants to bring back the draft. This has been tooken up before. Imagine if it happened? How would you feel about it?

Im not really sure how i would feel. I think because our army is 1005 volunteer, it makes them more dedicateded to the cause. If there was a draft, you'd have tons of people that dont even believe in the cause, which probably would turn out bad in the long run.

from the 'isnt it ironic' desk, I find it funny that the last two or three times a draft was proposed was from a democrat. I say this is ironic, because in 04' there big thing was, if you reelect Bush, he will institute the draft. Thats odd, lying politicans. who woulda thunk it.

8th. Honestly though how many soldiers do you know that went to war because its what they believe in. I mean granted there are a few. But most people go for jobs. I honestly believe that. And I've seen that.

I think the big problems are lack of training, lack of motivation, and lack of dedication.

So I agree with you part way. I mean someone who enlists knows whats ahead. Some random person who doesn't know what he didnt get himself into isn't as good of a soldier

actually its a strategic tactic 8th

its an anti war move, just peep the way he worded the proposal

of course it won't go through, they know this

they're basically doing it to show the support for the war isn't there at all

i think dude said something like "how are you gonna support of war if you don't support the draft" meaning the war isn't really supported so its worthless and shouldn'tve started in the first place, which any presidential opinion poll would tell you

I agree with that to Killah. It is a political move. I'm just interested in what people would think. If it happened and of course never say never

it will never happen with the democrats controlling the legislation and the presidents approval rating as it is

you've got a better chance seeing bush get impeached

i know its a political move, which is sickening. They should be doing what they feel is best for the country, not trying to embarrass the republicans. All politicians do it, dont get me wrong, but its always sickening. Political posturing for the sake of posturing.

and plex, all the people i know that joined believe in what they are doing. Some have always wanted to be in the military, but even more so after 9/11. There are people that go in for jobs, or education, but they still know [especially in this day in age] that they will probably being going to iraq. Even if they didn't know this when they joined, they joined the ARMED FORCES so they atleast knew it was a possibilty.

When they poll the soldiers in Iraq only like 1/3 think they should be there. Yet everyone I know only joined for the money free education, and didn't do so good in school. The people that I knew weren't exactly thrilled the were going to Iraq. But they knew they probably would. It wouldn't change there mind if they supported the war or not.

I can't argue for or against the soldiers in Iraq. My opinion is just based on my personal experience. I would hope that most of the soldiers in Iraq do want to be representing us.

they want to represent our country for their own benefit, but they don't believe in the war, if their was an imminant threat towards us like the afghan war, their would be a higher percentage than 1/3

a good amount of military soldiers couldn't afford college and didn't have any career path so they went to the military for the benefits

some news channel did a report on military recruiters and alot of them were saying that the war was over and they wouldn't go to iraq just in attempt to get them to join, so yeah theirs crooked shit being pulled on both sides

well first off thats fucked up, and those kids that believed that are idiots.

and just because a poll says something, doesnt make it true. Its all a matter of how you ask the question. You can ask the same questions 2 different ways and get two completly different answers. So i would have to see the methodoligy and the exact question asked before I put any stake in any poll.

yeah no polls are accurate depends on the wording, the amount of people they asked etc, etc

This wasn't the poll I was looking for. But god damn.

Polls usually aren't accurate. They are at least an idea though.
