This is a real dope track. The instrumental is great, and the addition of the occasional singing loop ("you know it wasn't on my mind") was nice. I almost wish there was just a few more lines of that kind of singing so it wouldn't seem like part of the beat, but more like an actual part of the lyrical flow. Cheef's flow and lyrics are, to me, the highlight of the track. The meaning is great, the rhythm is consistent, and the atmosphere created is ill. At times his voice reminds me a bit of the Grouch from the Living Legends, not always but occasionally. As you say, JO still has a ways to go, but I hear some potential with his flow. He's got rhythm, and there are some parts in his flow that I like, but it slips at times into something I'm not quite feeling.
All in all this would be right up there among some of the best I've heard in these forums though, I'm sure I'll listen to this one more than just a couple of times.
