Is the newest version of pro tools necessarily the best?

Im looking online and thinkin of ditching cool edit for pro tools...those that do audio please comment on which version would be the best for someone that never produced anything... Im orderig my mic prolly tonight after i get payed but loon e put me on...Said Pro tools upped his quality...So which one? I kno 8 is the newest..Can someone drop some feed on which one they use n why?

i use Adobe Audition the brand new shit cus it's like Cool Edit but alot more advanced but if i were you i'd stick with Pro Tools you can get some damm good quality with that, but it's a lil bit more tricky than the rest

Yea dawg I got 8. And like you, I came over from cool edit. Protools is extemely easier and less time to edit and master. I spent about 250 for the protools mbox mini. Hkx put me on that shit and I never looked back.

Right so me getting a usb mic would be counter productive right.... im tryna up my quality but i dont got 350 right now...Pffft..rent

right...but if i get a usb mic... i cant use an mbox right? im not shure cuz i dont wanna buy the mic then the mbox and cant use em together...straight up couter productive

yup yup. ummmm.....dont buy the mic yet then. u gotta get that lil 3 prong mic. i dunno what they call it but yea. a good investment......mmmm bout 3-350.
