You could try putting the ram from the 98 computer into the new one, if they are the same type. Also could try the repair option in windows xp, either case, you will need to read about it. Though if I were you, I'd start looking for someone who is willing to fix it, because its surely not going to fix itself.

could be ur RAM has taken a shit... theres a program on the net that checks to see if your RAM is operational... google it... otherwise try bootin to safe mode and doin not a system restore but it takes it back to days or weeks where it was runnin fine... try that... if not take it to a shop man... or GET A NEW FUCKING COMPUTER!!! lol
