As someone who's been a veteran on many sites and has notably made hall of fame on those sites, I have a fair and unbiased judgement. I don't know anybody on this site, so I have no reason to defend this site nor do I have any reason to defend the people who post on it.
With that being said, your greatest drawback as a writer is going to be your ego. You're not as good as you think you are. If you truly want to progress and ever be anything more than an amateur writer, my advice would be for you to battle here often, suck it up and take all the criticism and losses that you can handle. Yes there's some shady voting here and there, like there's shady voting on every site. People are always going to make friends and friends aren't going to vote against friends...but the reality is that 80-90% of your losses will be losses that you actually deserved
