umm about this topic..
i think nameplay is a critical aspect of text battling, inevitably, it WILL get played...
but it does show the voter how creative u can be, just by going off someones name..
also, it proves ur not biting random punchlines..
i personally think nameplay can dominate, and astound in battles..
u gotta think to yourself that the name is already played, therefore u must get real creative with it, and well...hopefully its dope. LoL...
when people DONT use nameplay, it becomes boring and more of a generic diss that can be directed toward anyone..
my strongest aspect in battling is nameplay punches..so im just tellin yall my biased opinion..
example of a fresh nameplay punch of a PLAYED name..

i agree somewhat, i think alotta dudes rely too much on it, i especially hate when niggas force the fuck out of it and play off tiny parts of a name or letters or other lame shit like that where its not even name play its basically a-couple-letters-play, i don't find shit like that "creative" because its easy as fuck to do to anybody with a name longer than 3 letters, so imo if you can't think of a name play that uses a good enough portion of the name that it would work on a track just don't do it, its not creative its taking a shortcut to false creativity cause you can't think of anything good thats actually playing off a name
niggas need to work on their wordplay as a whole, i see alotta forced textcee bullshit, imo if your line wouldn't work on a track don't use it, text allows more room for explanations and what not since your reading it not listening to it but a good textcee shouldn't have to rely on bars that wouldn't make sense to an average fan hearing them, all memorable punchlines are good because people get them and they're structured in a way that makes the wordplay connect perfectly, complex wordplay don't mean shit unless its structured properly and it connects
