yea punches aren't a cat.. neither is personals..u basically don't even have to diss ur opponent..cuz its judged on how well u can put a track together if u think about it, if u go by the cats i would say tre got it, but that's just by the categories, sometimes punches and personals can give entertainment..if ur lookin for that..but n e ways.. we'll see wat the voters have to say

^^^haha yeah? but i cant i just said that in the second verse in my audio drop against Haz...it's just wierd that i used the same vowel combo in
those 4 bars as his hook...

I said

use the first verse to hit you like a left jab
second is a haymaker that crumbles ya body bad
they need to wrap ya ass up in a body bag
that'll be the tightest rap seen outta that sorry fag

haha ......i just figured i'd follow the cats cuz punches

do lyrics count for nothing in this tourny? lol

-Flow
-Entertainment
-Swagga
-Creativity
-Overall Delivery

could be wrong but is flow, swagga and delivery not more or less the same thing?
obviously delivery is extremely important but what the fuck is "swagga" lol

just saying this coz i listened to tre tru v hazard and hazard definitly won but not by those cats. seems if u can put a up verse with decent flow and "swagga" you`ll win regardless of your lyrics. so its not really a battle tourny is it? no hate tre tru coz his verse was good too and was decent lyrically. definitly a hot battle.

I used different cats because the audio world is alot different than the text world. Certain things are more impressive when it comes to audio. Like punchlines...those are soooo important in the text world because text can only deliver a message so far. So cats like that are majorly important. Where in audio, there's so many ways to convey a message and shine.

Flow - I wanna know if you can ride a beat. You can sound like scattered ass all over the beat & rhythmm otherwise the track isn't really worth listening to. There've been other artists here on illest that have shown that they can't ride a beat if their life depended on it! So the flow is important.

Entertainment - I don't want to sit here in the studio and listen to a track that'll sound like an album filler. I want to be entertained! I want to laugh, or be moved...I want the track to make me feel something more than a dull emotion. When you ask about the importance of lyrics or punches...those things entertain us as well and can fall within the guidelines of this category. We go to movies, watch TV, listen to music, play video games, etc etc all for one reason mainly. And that's to be entertained. Entertainment is key in audio and we look for that.

Swagga - Swagger is your style. How do you get off on a track!? Do you sound like a mono-tone internet rapper? ...or do you have a style and sound that definately seperates you from the rest of the crowd!? Do you sound like you're being yourself...or does it sound like you're tryin to imitate your favorite rapper!? Swagger is what you bring to the table and how you bring it!

Creativity - Did you talk in the intro or outro? Did you have a small skit for an intro or outro. I want to see that you did more than a mere freestyle. Creativity is puttin actual thought behind your presentation. I wanna see the brainstems of your mad science in a track! Are you willing to try things other artists won't touch? Sing the hook...rap the bridge...etc etc. Creativity (depending on how deep you look for it) can also relate to the way you mix it. Did you echo parts that needed emphasis, add some reverb or flanger to spice it up? Creativity is the way you mold the track from scratch! Probably one of the most important categories when judging any genre of music.

Overall Delivery - Overall how did it come out? Did you sound like you read the lyrics right off the page, or did you exercise your lyrics and technique enough to bring those written words to life on a track. Your swagger and your delivery go hand-and-hand. Your swagger is how you put it out there...the delivery is if succeeded at puttin it out there. Two different things, but two key elements.

thats cool i understand what your looking for just thought there could of maybe been a cat for punchlines since thats the main the factor in an audio battle. its got nothin to do with text rap we all listen to hip hop and hip hop battles. i just think the cats lead to generic verses. a couple of the tracks posted are barely dissin their opponents. personally id prefer verses in a tournament billed as "battle of the champions" to contain personals, nameplay or least some form of witty punchlines as oppossed to uncreative 'i`ll kill u' and 'your gay blah blah blah'. i think thats the same whether it be text battles, audio battles or battles in the real world. at amatuer level of course there should be an emphasis on delivery and quality since its the first step so to speak but i think the lyrical content is just important. to use the tre tru hazard battle for an example again hazard definitly had the upper hand lyrically and his quality and delivery was good too. not as crisp as tre tru`s so by cats it would maybe go tre trus way but i think hazard was the better battler and his flow and overall quality was still decent just maybe not as proffessional as tre trus. i still think delivery, flow and swagga is the same thing thing and your not gonna change my mind lol

flow = how did you get off on the track
swagga = how did you get off on the track
delivery = how did you get off on the track

u could essentially post a track with dope flow, delivery and "swagga" and win this touney without mentioning your opponenet as far as i can see. its all good tho
