Believing in God is one thing, (called a Deist), you have to believe in the Bible to believe Christ lived this remarkable life and is the son of God, if not God. (Subsist will hound me, yes Muslims believe so as well)
You can say that a lot of the bible is metaphor. If you don't want to believe in superstition.
The most important part about being a Christian and understanding Christianity is the resurrection of Jesus.
If you don't believe Jesus died for your sins and resurrected in three days. You really don't believe the bible. Therefore you're not a Christian.
Maybe, you just like the killing children, raping, and slavery, part of it. I don't know.
I don't mean to sound condescending and maybe somebody here, who is actually a Christian would care to clarify the importance of the bible.
I'll stop putting my input, if you're a Deist. That's another - more rational discussion in itself.
Plus, if you don't care to think about it in them complex terms. Religious means to follow religion. If you don't follow a religion then why are you claiming you're a Christian, when being a Christian is being a part of the Christian religion. Hmm?

That's an interesting perspective. Do you mean you're born into Christian values, because you do have to find Jesus on your own.

No, Id make them do things that i had to do, but didn't want to do.
if you found out you/your girlfriend was pregnant, tomorrow, would you give up the baby? Or make them give it up?

thats not a yes or no question, its a choice between 2 options
personally I'd make it her decision. I'm not financially stable enough to handle a kid...but it doesnt mean i dont want one
