beat making programs are all about preference & getting use to, i don't like reason cause its GUI is so tiny & editing in the sequencer is a pain imo

like petrafyne said you don't need a midi controller to use reason but imo it'd be fairly useless without one cause sampling on there is alot more time consuming than most other programs i've used, & manually writing compositions with reasons sequencer would be a pain in the ass

best thing about reason is probably the stock sound kit theirs a little bit of everything and while the quality on the sounds ain't that spectacular they're all pretty usable, the wiring thing is more of a gimmick than anything else theirs no real benefit of it over other programs mixing units, i'd recommend downloading reason, fl studio, orion, & ableton live & using each for awhile to see what you like, fl orion & ableton live's stock sounds aren't all that great but they're all vst compatible (which reason isn't) & theirs thousands of vsts(some even free) of every sound & effect imaginable

hmmmm i will have to do that... reason isn't even loading on my computer says i have to have the DVD but i downloaded the ISO and selected AutoRun maybe thats my problem... i have no clue... i may go try n find FL Studio... and the others u mentioned... thanx DJ appreciate the honest feedback i need something that is VST capable... and if Reason isn't then its not worth my time... altho i did like the GUI interface on Reason... seemed pretty cool...

yeah reason isn't vst compatible you can only use its synths and refills which are either synth patches or sampler patches

the gui may look cool but looks and functionality are two different things, its really clunky & hard to work with imo

to get the iso to work you gotta either burn it or mount it virtually with magiciso/magicdisc & install it

yeah my producer uses FL Studio sometimes... still its better to have a Midi Keyboard... which is what i will have to invest in...
