i don't have a mic or any hardware whatsoever, but i want to be able to take digital audio clips and sample them for use in fl studio producer edition. whats the best way to do this

Just download MP3 soundclips and import them into FL studio. Won't sound that great coming out of any production software though...when it comes to sampling...you need to buy a sampler/drum machine.

Shame...I just sold my Roland SP-606 real cheap too a couple of months ago. I put it up online and got $400 for it. Otherwise I would've sold it on here like I do most of my old studio equipment. (i tend to upgrade alot)

But yea...if you want that kanye west, DJ michael watts, or chopped and skrewed style...you need a sampler. FL won't cut it.

yeah i feel ya im jus tryin to get familiar wit the production process in a no budget way lol... i aint lookin for some top notch shit jus somethin i could fuck around wit n learn from.. how do i import an mp3 file into fl tho?

do i gotta dl some kinda software to convert the file i wanna sample before i can actually cut it up?

Lotus, even though a hardware sampler would be best you can also do it with the Edison on the program... and utilizing the slicer... and also using the piano roll to slow or speed up the sample...

Youtube it... FL Studio Edison

I've sampled a good number of things using it... so you can definately make it happen with FL studio... just it'll take experiementing to get it how you want it.

in response to the import stuff... that's not for mp3 etc... for mp3 and wav files etc... you go to "channels" in the menu... then "add one" and then "audio clip."

Got to the new channel in the pattern called "audio clip" and right click that and go to "load sample..." and find ya desire file and shit

the edison shit also can upload mp3 and wav files as well... but the setup is different it's done in the mixer. so for a better understanding (with the visuals of someone doing it) got to youtube and watch how the setup it up.

sound quality is no different in fl or a sampler, it really all depends on the quality of the sample and how you process it, in fact alotta samplers hip hop producers use are vintage and actually sound worse than fl, a sample stays the quality it is a sampler isn't going to magically turn a 16 bit sample 24 bit, with sampling post processing is the most important aspect quality-wise so at least a basic knowledge of EQ'ing is necessary especially when sampling old records

personally i cut the sounds up in cool edit and then send them to fl but you can do it in fl relatively easy with edison or fl slicer theirs even an autochop feature
