AZ is releasing a couple new tracks for his upcoming 15th anniversary of Do Or Die, his classic debut album.
The re-release will come out on November 22nd.
One reviewer said about Do Or Die when comparing Illmatic and AZ’s debut. “The two albums are very much the twin sides of the same double-headed coin. They are so closely connected, in fact, that it’s difficult to pinpoint where Doe or Die’s points of departure are located.”
Of course. On their respected lyrical journeys, AZ and Nas have taken different roads. AZ has stuck more to the content that made him popular while Nas has delved more into politics. Still it’s nice to hear AZ bring fire to a track like it was 15 years ago, while understanding the different capabilities that he possesses today and integrating them.
Truly, in The Calm produced by Statik Selektah, AZ channels his 1994-1995 bringing back that vintage sound.
