R.I.P. Bernie Mac

Post by Kurse »

Man...really what can one say about Bernie Mac!? The man was a legend, a pioneer and most of all...an inspiration. Myself being an artist from Chicago, I can't tell you how much the news of his passing saddens me because when you're young and trying to find yourself...you sometimes tend to look towards the individuals who came from where you came-up and made something of themselves.

As a child I always felt that there was something different in me. But from the jump I knew I didn't want to live a mediocre lifestyle. I had a craving for more. So even when I didn't know what exactly it was that I wanted to be when I 'grew up'...the one thing that I did know, was that I wanted to be something special. Something the world would remember. So before I got into music, the one thing that I always wanted to do was be a comedian. I wanted to be that funny guy on stage that everyone shared a laugh with.

In the end...I just wanted to entertain.

I remember being young and secretly buying all the stand-up comic tapes from the music store and listening to them in my walkman as I went to sleep. Had my mom known about those tapes at that age, she'd of never let me keep 'em! But I'd be listening to Martin Lawrence's "Talkin Shit" stand-up along with other tapes from Bernie Mac, George Carlin and other great comedians of the era. And the more shit they talked...the more I wanted to be in their shoes.

Bernie was one of those guys. He was hilarious, unique and put things in such a down-right "brutally honest" way, that it was almost impossible not to laugh at the truth. He was a Chicago native and an inspiration to those who followed his career. I remember him from the Original Kings of comedy...from the Bernie Mac show...from the Wayne's brothers movies...etc, etc. The man was a comedic genius.

So I guess it's just stating the obvious when I say that the movie world, TV world...comic world, will be missing a huge piece of the puzzle with his passing on. But to NOT state the obvious would be an injustice to who the man was. I was a huge fan, and always will be. He'll be in my prayers, his family as well...and I wish them the best at this time.

We now celebrate the life of Bernie Mac...
...Chicago say your prayers...
...South side say your prayers...
...Amen.

Respect this, specialist, black, testing this and get ya necklace jacked
Your after name scratched up off my guestlist, party freak
You the type of nigga that'll hardly speak unless you spoken to
You throw a cold screw but sober up when I'm approaching you
At the same time we postin two niggaz on that ass
Thats gonna do what they supposed to do the limelight
Snatched away from you because its my night
Killarm' blaze hotter than twilight, you better get ya lines right
Half of these crabs cant even rhyme right
